Alfa's mechanicals were untouched: all-alloy twin-cam mill, Weber DC0E carbs, 109hp, five-speed, solid axle, even the suspension tuning was left alone. The lighter weight allowed better braking and cornering, however, and the aerodynamics aided acceleration. Body construction is all steel--a surprise, as Zagato was known for its use of alloys.

FOLLOW MARKET. In 1969, Alfa Romeo introduced the Junior Z. Based on the GT 1300 Junior, the Junior Z sported a sleek Zagato designed body powered by a 1.3L inline four. This model was produced until 1972 when Alfa introduced the 1600 Junior Z, which sported the same design, but was now fitted with a 1.6L inline four, and slightly longer body.
